Acadia Valley Transfer Site
The Acadia Valley Transfer Site is open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm. Items that can be disposed of at the transfer station include:
- Household garbage, cardboard, scrap metal, electronics, paint, white metal, tires, chemical jugs.
- Recycling: Plastic bottles, cans, and milk cartons.
- Burn Pit: Available for clean wood, cardboard, and trees and branches.
- Pesticide Containers: Pesticide containers under 25 liters. Anything over must be returned to retail outlets.
- Products containing Mercury can be recycled privately: Contact Gord at V&S Truck Works (403) 972-3879
Youngstown Regional Landfill
For further information regarding waste and the Youngstown Regional Landfill, please visit the Big Country Waste Management Commission’s website. The Commission also offers hazardous goods drop-off days throughout the year. Items that can be disposed of at the transfer station include:
- Household garbage, cardboard, scrap metal, electronics, paint, and white metal.
- Burn Pit: Available for clean wood, cardboard, and trees and branches.
- Pesticide Containers: Clean plastic agricultural chemical containers, 20L or less can be bagged and put in the chemical collection site. Anything over must be returned to retail outlets.
- Tippage Fee for refrigerators, deep freezes and other Freon-containing appliances: $20.00
- Recycling: Plastic bottles, cans, and milk cartons can be dropped off in the bin located on the south side of Warren Peers School. All proceeds go to the Student Union.
