The following are fixed conditions that each Controlled Burn in the MD of Acadia must adhere to. Additional conditions may be imposed by MD Fire Guardians as well.
Controlled burn notification holder is responsible for adult supervision and safe control of all burning, herein authorized at all times.
Winds must be less than 15 kms/hr at all times & be monitored while burning *(shut down if over 15 kms/hr)
Sufficient tools, equipment and water must be readily available for the size of the burn being conducted to allow easy extinguishment of the fire at any time.
If the burning is close to a highway, the controlled burn notification holder is responsible to shut down any burning when highway visibility is reduced and/or post & remove SMOKE signs (with highway maintenance approval).
Priority consideration must be given to neighbors, to avoid any physical discomfort as a result of burning and could require the burning to be stopped (this includes offensive odors and nuisance smoke).
This notice does not authorize burning of any prohibited debris as defined by the Alberta Environment Protection Enhancement Act.
A fire ban or restriction prohibits controlled burns; suspends all existing controlled burn notifications and requires all outdoor fires to be extinguished immediately.
Contraventions of this policy may result in fines being issued, liability for any damaged caused as a result of such disregard, and the landowner.
Controlled Burn Notification applicant agrees to follow all rules, regulations and conditions as outlined above and accepts responsibility.
Controlled Burn Notification applicant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Municipal District of Acadia No. 34 from all liability arising out of temporary operations authorized by the completion of this Controlled Burn Notification.
